THE ISLANDS
Meganisi is a breathtaking island of the Ionian Sea, located 4 nautical miles southeast of Lefkada. Meganisi is literally translated to “Big Island” due to the fact that it is the largest island of a complex (Scorpios, Thilia, Kythros and more), composing the administrative district of the Municipality of Meganisi (Taphion), called Tilevoides. With an area of 19,85 square Kilometers, Meganisi belongs to the province of Lefkada and has three scenic villages, each with unique beauty, namely Vathi, Katomeri and Spartochori which consist the main settlements of the island with a total population of 2,000 inhabitants.
Lefkada, also known as Lefkas, is an island, part of the group of islands in the Ionian Sea called “Eptanisa”, located in Western Greece. Lefkada has an area of about 300 sq km and a coastline of 117 km. Surrounded by nine satellite islands, namely Kastos, Kalamos, Madouri, Skorpios and the most popular of all Meganisi, the island attracts thousands of tourists every year especially during summer months. The easy access to the island across a floating bridge which connects it with land, has made it a favorite destination. Its climate, the beautiful beaches and the spectacular mountains, the crystal water of the sea and the charming traditional villages make Lefkas a must-see place in Greece.
